Our general practice cooperates in scientific research on diabetes care within the so-called GIANTT project. The aim of this project is to improve care and thereby reduce complications in people with type 2 diabetes. The research is conducted under the supervision of the UMCG. Our practice provides data on diabetes care provided in the Groningen region. GIANTT ensures that this data can be used for scientific research.
The UMCG and GIANTT pay a lot of attention to protecting your privacy. Name, address or citizen service numbers (citizen service numbers) are not collected for the investigation. As a result, the results of the scientific research never show which person the data was used for. The data is treated carefully and confidentially in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG). GIANTT has recorded this in a privacy statement and a data protection policy, both of which can be found on the website of GIANTT www.giantt.nl.
If you object to the use of your healthcare data for scientific research, you can let the doctor or assistant know this at any time. You will then receive a form to make your objection known. This form is also on the GIANTT website. Your data will not be used for the GIANTT investigation. Whether or not to raise an objection does not affect your treatment and has no consequences for any other (scientific) research that you cooperate with.
